When thinking about wellness and the various subjects it covers, nutrition is one thing that everyone stops paying attention to, especially, when times get rough financially. This is why I want to spend some time to help others really take control of their health and overall wellness.

Nutrition is the core of our health!

Before I go into what we can do to better our nutrition I want to point out some facts that have happened because of the lack of nutrition. We have to realize that the over 65% of the United States is overweight 30% are clinically obese. These numbers have doubled over the last decade. What kind of a track are we on? We have the highest disease rate in the world along with many other diseases. Because of all this we have one of the best hospital care systems and sick care systems in the world. We are also developing more diseases, because of all the drugs and other bad stuff we are putting into our system. Compare that to countries like Japan who are the healthiest country in the world, according to the World Health Organization. They have a wellness system, or prevention system you might say.
Take control of your health and overall wellness!

What generally motivates people to really take control of their health? In my opinion there are 3 ways that people get motivated: self motivated, more educated, and they are faced with death. Plain and simple those are the ways that people get motivated. Why do we wait until we are faced with a crisis before we act on taking care of ourselves? We all make excuses or we always put ourselves last and make sure that everyone else is happy before we can be happy. Life isn’t supposed to be like that. I guarantee you that if everyone was to take care of themselves properly we would all be much happier and would be more productive and would be able to take care of others more efficiently.
Basics of nutrition

Let’s go into the basics of what proper nutrition is. There are 6 major components to the overall picture: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water. We need all of these into our diets. Effect use of ones nutrition will help the body to fight disease and sickness naturally such as heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, flu, colds, allergies, etc. We need to be aware that there needs to be a balance in everything. Working with a professional like a wellness consultant or nutritionist is a good idea when trying to figure out a good meal plan. If you want to start taking control of your own health you must cover the basics. Eat 3 main meals, and 2 snacks in between those meals. Drink plenty of good quality water. Don’t over eat! Eat organic whole foods. Limit the amount of sugars and high density fatty foods. One thing to remember, “Keep it in balance!”

There is one difference between those who are fit and those who are not. The ones that are fit have self discipline. The ones who are not lack it. I know this may seem harsh and a little bold, but it is true. If you are looking to better your health nutrition is the first step. Take control of your life and change it for the better.
